I think to get 6db, the two subs need to be "coupled" together. In the case of using 7 subs at 7 locations ( or two subs in two locations ) I'm not sure you would get those extra db.
It's quite true that 6dB from dual sources requires the units to be less than 1/4 wavelength apart to reduce interference loss, which by definition emphisises bass.( e.g.: I XO my subs @ 45Hz which means they have to be less than 4'6" apart )
But, he's talking peeks @ 17dB ( not 6dB ) above a single sub w/ 7 units.
