My Sony KPR-46EX20 (46" RPTV) made in 1992 came from the factory with a black painted interior. You can also easily get at the tubes, the mirror and the back of the screen for that matter by removing a plastic panel on its rear which is held on by just 6 screws. So new sets skimp on the paint and are harder to service to boot?? Hmmm.....
