Can anyone help me? I received a DVD player for Christmas and can't seem to get it working...TV is SONY TRINITRON KV 27S42
DVD is PANASONIC DVD-RV21
STEREO is SONY LBT-D670AV
There is also a digital cable box (leaving in a few days..not worth the $$)Everything is hooked up and working fine EXCEPT the DVD player.
The DVD player came w/the basic cables, but I also have an s-video cable and an optical cable (which I can't use..DVD is the only thing w/the capability). I can't seem to get a picture from the DVD to the TV. I also can not locate the manual for my TV, so I'm not sure if any settings need to be changed. HELP????

What specific input connectors do you have on your TV?
How many selectable inputs does your TV have, like ANT1, ANT2, etc.?1) composite (RG-6 coax like cable TV)
2) S-video
3) component (3 RCA connectors with Y, Pb, Pr labels)I know the DVD player has both #2 and #3 above.
What connection on the TV is the the DVD player plugged into currently?

The only sound I get when the DVD player tries to play a disc is a crackling sound.
The TV has 1, 2 and 3. I have tried connecting the player using the s-video cable and the yellow video cable.Selectable inputs on TV menu are: VIDEO 1, DTV, RECEIVER, WEB, DVD, SAT, GAME, LD, BETA, 8mm and VHS. The TV is on channel 4 for the digital cable box...does it need to be changed for the DVD player?
OK, lets get some more info.1) What is the name of the port on DVD player you are using for sound output?
2) What is that plugged into ( port name) on your Surround Sound Receiver and what kind of cable are you using?3) What is the name of the port on DVD player you are using for video output?
4) What is that plugged into ( port name) on your TV and what kind of cable are you using?
Yes, you will probably need to select a different input from your TV to watch and hear the DVD player.
