Hi Pete,

let's just say that I've retained legal counsel.*************
there are plenty of places on the web to get video gear and accessories
************I think one should be suspicious of a business that feels the need to post on their website, a testimonial from their (only) customer. Why do they need to? Why is it extra-ordinary that they are (sometimes) able to do what every customer expects? Why are they proud that once they could do the ordinary? Why do they aim so low? --they look at their feet, and shoot them, over and over. Then they complain to the customer about how much work they have, as if to say, "See what you made me do? I shot myself in the foot because of you!"
there's no reason to suffer the kind of abuse heaped on me these past weeks.
from time to time even the best companies screw-up. what makes them outstanding is the way they respond to correct the problems, and how they treat their patrons during the process. these companies see problems as opportunites to improve, to grow, and to win the hearts and minds of the consumer.
Other outfits have a more familiar attitude:
"If it wasn't for the F#%@*^! customers this would be a nice place to work!"
we've all been to those places--a post office, a State Store, an auto mechanic ...
my auto dealership hounds me after every service trip, in fact, they plead with me to the point of a command, that I must give them an "excellent" rating when the survey person calls, and she does call, over and over and over until I must answer to stop her. I try to explain to them what the word "excellent" means, but clearly it means something else to them--it means--"We don't want to lose." Yes, they are looking at their feet, and what a surprise, that's what they shoot.
one doesn't expect to be lied to, dumped on, ignored, deceived, stalled, and finally blamed for the incompetence of the corporation over which one has no control, no voice, scant recourse.
with newsgroups like this one, at least we can warn our fellow entheuasts about the "bad apples"forewarned is forearmed

but with Ashcroft in charge I only need to assume they are guilty, and we can bomb their headquarters and put a bounty on their heads: dead or alive. This is great. Under Clinton, I'd have to assume they are innocent until I can pay a jury to convict them. Now, they are guilty by virtue of media say-so, and nothing they do can save them.
I'm working on the story; I have the emails and transcripts of the phone calls, but my lawyer advises me to keep my big mouth shut.
Reminds me of a cartoon in the New Yorker:
scene is examination room, patient talking to his physician:
"Give it to me straight Doc, how much longer can I go on ignoring your advice?"
