Is there any difference between these two models other than the wattages? I'm in the market for a lower priced reciever, and I've read a lot of good reviews on the 575x, but the 595 seems to be about the same price... is it better?
Thanks,
Brent

I just bought my TX-DS595 a few weeks ago and am really happy with it. As I recall, the main difference between the 595, the latest model, and the 575, its predessesor is the front panel and the fact that the 595 has the latest Pro Logic II decoder. Pro Logic II takes Pro logic one step further by providing discrete rear channel information for such inputs as VHS movies and TV broadcasts. It's not the same as 5.1 but still provides some interesting sound variations. I'm confident you'll be happy with either Onkyo.
If you watch a fair amount of TV or VCR tapes, get the 595. I got one to replace my 10 year-old Yamaha Pro-Logic receiver and the DPL II is a huge improvement over original DPL. Besides stereo surrounds, the real big difference is the surrounds are now full-range instead of limited to 7000 Hz. You WILL notice the difference and no use spending the money and not getting the latest processor.
