Ok, I already have a SACD player but a really old cheesy DVD player. I am now looking to buy a newer P-Scan player preferable with the newer Silicon Image or Faroudja chip for my Sony 32XBR400 TV. I figure why not also get one that has DVD-A capability and then I have both but are there any such players on the market, especially that have both high qual vid and sonics? For SACD there are such players but for DVD-A, not so sure.
Follow Ups:
I forgot a very good one and also affordable:Pioneer DV-47A (or DV-747AS Europe)

The sony DVP-NS700P is supposed to be excellent. YOu might wanna give it a try
I asked for p-scan DVD-A player I already have a SACD player. Let see the sony DVP-NS700P does SACD and P-Scan but does it do DVD-A? No! So it doesn't answer the question.Josh
You might want to look at the specs posted on the Denon site for the new DVM 3800. They are impressive on paper but it will not be available until April.
The one major feature that I noticed was that it is supposed to have true bass-management for DVD-Audio playback. The Toshiba SD9200 is an impressive player, Stereophile recommended (Oct 2001 issue, review also on their website) but no bass-management. You could add the Outlaw ICBM for bass-management (reviewed in Feb 2002 Stereophile Guide to Home Theater) at about the same cost as the new DVM 3800.
From all the reviews and posts I've read, it seems to be hard to find a single player that excels in both video and audio quality.
I don't need bass management actually cuz all four (no center) speaks are full range. But I want true hi-rez audio and video, not the chroma bug plagued genesis chip that is in the Toshiba. Hope the new Denon has the Sage or Faroudja chip.
The Genesis chip has nothing to do with the chroma bug. The Genesis is for deinterlacing -- it has its own flaws but they are unrelated. The Chroma bug is a function of the MPEG decoder, and I don't recall whether Toshiba is using their own, or an older LSI Logic / C-Cube / Zoran Vaddis.
The earlier recommended Denons are one option.
If you want to buy know, and aren't averse to a changer, consider the Kenwood 5700 or Kenwood 5900 players.
Both have identical video sections, and vary only in the disc handling capabilities.
Regards,
I'd recommend the Toshiba SD9200. The video quality is very good and the audio quality is great. You can find them for around 650 to 700 bucks now.
