Is it possibe to make a video projector out of a TV screen and an overhead projector (the kind used in schools)? Would the tv be bright enough to be magnified and projected onto a screen?
Follow Ups:
It's possible to do this but you'll need to work with it a bit.
Take a small box as big as the screen of the tv.
Get a second box the size of the whole tv.
Use the magnifying lense out of the projector.(In the overhead box with
the little mirrors.)
Get 2 boxes. One will cover the whole tv and another will fit inside of it as a focasing sled.Cut a Whole the size of the lense in the smallest box.Place the lense in it and glue it good.
THis will work but not unless the tv is upside down and the room is dark.Make sure light only escapes through that little hole and it helps to paint the inside of the boxes black.
It should magnify up to 50 or 60 inches. The Image will be Mirrored but you can look around to find out about the "Mirror Corection" method.
Here is a project that uses a 13 inch tv. Looks pretty fun to build. Not exactly videophile quality, though.
you could probobly project something, but since it seemes to be a magnifing glass the picture would be upside-down and the room would have to be pitch dark to see something.
The image coming out of the TV scatters in all direction, so it cannot be directed to that little mirror/lens of the overhead projector. Maybe if you put a fresnel lens right on the surface of the projector, it might be able to focus all its light in one direction. But it would probably be so dim and fuzzy as to be unwatchable. If you want to go toward that path, here are some crooks who are willing to take your money:
