Yes, I saw the one with Nicole - that was when she was not a part of an establishement yet, was just one with good future. As I was watching the Knife, however, I sat tight waiting for the events of the Dead Calm to start unfolding. Perhaps the fact that this one never stooped to that level added to the suspense. Where the Dead Calm simply follows the traditional and predictable Hollywood path, the Knife manages to remain above a cliche.I am not sure if it was Polanski's first. Was it, indeed? Even more marvelous then.
