I believe that Kubrick had not completed editing this before he died. This cannot compare cinematically to any of his previous movies.
Ok, I'll admit there are portions of it, I do not understand. This is par for a Kubrick movie on first viewing. Still, I have the feeling that something is missing, a feeling I did not have with any of his other movies and I've seen them all.
This movie is not a total write off because what has been presented by Kubrick and the studio is exploring some very important areas about love and lust.
Still, I do not see the hand of the master in this.
I'm hoping that the studio can keep all the cuts. Perhaps someday a talented individual can edit this to present something closer to what Kubrick was attempting.
