It is a beautiful, eerie short French film from about 1961. It is what the movie 12 Monkeys was based on, and I greatly prefer the original French flick to heavy handed 12 Monkeys. It's about 28 minutes long and shot entirely in black and white still photographs (except for one very short scene with moving pictures).I first saw this film in 1978 (when I was thirteen in eighth grade as part of English class, of all things) and was haunted by it ever since, though I hadn't seen it again until last week. I found it on VHS on Amazon.com. Unfortunately (1) the quality of the tape is bad and (2) I KNOW it's been edited, because the short scene with moving pictures is missing! Since it's been 22 years since I last saw it, I don't know what else might have been cut.
I'd love to find it on DVD, or at least a better quality, uncut version on tape. Any suggestions?
