I dont' remember the context, but my father-in-law was over and I was talking about the famous scene in N by NW where carry gets off the bus in the middle of nowhere. He looked at me blankly, saying nothing. I looked at him blankly, saying nothing. Finaly he admitted he hadn't seen it. His revelation gave me Vertigo. I grabbed at The Rope on the way down, looking up at the Torn Curtain. The Birds flew in tight circles around my head. He must be Psycho, I thought, and as I was loosing consciousness: I ought to push him right out the Rear Window. (stop me, please)He haddn't seen a film that must rank in the top ten. If ever there was a reason to buy films on DVD or Lazerdisk, Hitchcock is it.
