"Sahara" - a remake

Dmitry, I suspect you knew that - didn't you? It is a remake of the 1936 Soviet film called Thirteen. Down to some very minute details, if you replace tanks with horses, of course.
Is something wrong with writing the original script?
I am yet to see a remake that was at the same level as the original - so why are they still doing this?
What's next? A "Potemkin" remake set in a Brooklyn high school?
