"The videotape was so bad, I thought it was a DVD."Are you saying that VHS and LD looks better than DVD? If so, I'm not sure what to say, as DVD is VASTLY superior to VHS and LD. You talk about artifacts, but even on inexpensive ($200-$300) DVD players with the worst downconversion (e.g. Toshiba) and on modestly priced ($800) 36" 4:3 sets, the artifacts are minimal compared to VHS and LD. And a progressive scan players and a 16:9 display take you to another level in video quality. You're the first person I've heard that doesn't think DVD is a huge improvement in video over VHS and LD.
