The "House On Haunted Hill" remake is now in production and is scheduled
for release by Warner Brothers on Oct 29th. It will be directed by William Malone (Freddy's
Nightmares; Tales of the Crypt; Perversions of Science); produced by
Gil Adler; and Geoffery Rush (Oscar for "Shine"; nominated for "Shakespeare
In Love") will star in Vincent Price's role as the vengeful billionaire.
It will be filmed in color and feature a lot of neat special effects; it
will be interesting as Malone resisted Warner Bros attempts to make a
horror-comedy; in effect, the film will have a much darker tone than the
1958 original, and correspondingly, more explicit violence, gore and death. Producer Adler said, "the movie will be scary with moments of levity".
I am usually not impressed with these kinds of remakes, but will reserve
judgement until I view it and am able to compare it with the camp classic.-AudioHead
