I recommend "Three Kings".

For once, what we've got here is an American "war" film that has a strong moral conscience and avoids the standard dehumanizing film stereotypes of Middle Easterners (see "True Lies" for a typical terrorist example). Well, it does have the standard stereotypes of American soldiers (the reluctant hero; the young, dumb country kid). A worthy remake of "Kelly's Heroes" for the Nineties; no masterpiece, but three stars from me. I can't vouch for the "realism", but be warned that I'm generally not looking for Reality in films. I went to the theater yesterday to escape from the reality of Ohio State being beaten silly in football by those darn cheeseheaded badgers from Wisconsin.
