Enhanced DVD: what work is involved in changing a DVD digital master from 'normal 4:3 to "ENHANCED"

Just curious. Many DVD movies are now "enhanced for 16:9". BUT, some are not... My question for some DVD techno-maven is: say you're a technical guy at a DVD mastering place and the boss says: "fix this non anamorphic, widescreen to be "enhanced for 16:9". Well, is that a BIG messy job that costs a LOT of money, or is that like a few keystrokes on a special mastering machine? Or a little hard to do, but just a days work?

I wish ALL the (over 1.77 aspect ratio) DVDs would be enhanced. Just wonder how big a deal it is for the producers to MAKE them that way?
