That's O Brother Where Art Thou. And oh brother does it evince, in nearly every scene, the heavy handedness of the freres Coen. Guess they just can't help making fun, through caricature rather than character, of people they consider inferior to their brilliant selves -- in this case, Southerners. (Contrast their work to almost any Robert Altman film.) In defense of the movie, I will say that most of the actors rose above the script and George Clooney's mugging was amusing. On the other hand every syllable of dialog was ADRed and that added (as usual) to the artificiality of the entire enterprise.Wish we could have heard more Ralph Stanley! But I managed to take a lesson from the twice-heard "Look on the Sunny Side of Life".
