Star Trek: Nemesis

I just saw this film this afternoon and feel that it does continue the trend of even numbered Star Trek films being good and odd numbered ones tending to suck. The reviewer in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel here gave it 2 1/2 stars out of 4 and offered a review that was quite perceptive.

My own perspective is that it is in the better half of Star Trek films and is not nearly as overdone and forced as previous TNG films have been. I think Patrick Stewart certainly earned his $9.5 million, turning in a very fine performance. I think some of the sequences strained believeability in a comic book like fashion but recognize that this appears to be an ongoing trend in modern movies. While not nearly as good as Star Trek II, it represents a welcome change from the last horrid effort IMO, the only Star Trek film I do not own on either LD or DVD. I look forward to acquiring this new film on DVD whenever that might be and feel it is the type of film that will continue to improve upon subsequent viewings.
