Detoxing after the show

Nice to return to the quiet Asylum after the noisy few days at the HE show.

Shows like that give you perfect opportunity to see things you would never want to see in your life, and not just once, but many times.

So I got my chance to finally see the Tiger... about 50 times, to be exact. What a boring and stupid piece of work.

I was also invited to the digital SW demo. Since everyone went, so did I.

I have not been to an American movies theater in several years. Now the next several years will be easy.

First, there were about 10 previews. Without an exception I should avoid all of those "films". That is a good bit of information.

And then the SW came and quickly set the new low for the level of boredom and stupidity. If not for Natalie - a beautiful sight to behold, and something I clinched to till the end - I would have left pretty early.

I am sure many have already described the image quality of the DLP digital presentation, and it was quite mediocre at best. The brilliance and contrast of the film are completely gone, replaced by the washed-off colors that would not be out of place on Sokurov's film (you can hardly see anything there anyway...), but didn't make any sense for something like your typical Americal movie.

I have a dream for the next HE show. We set up a room far away from other home theater installations with their noise, we hang the 4:3 screen with a single channel audio, and we simply play the classic movies. All in black and white... no exceptions. The Grand Illusion. The Bicycle Thief. Wages of Fear. Luci del varietà. Casablanca.
