Herzog/Kinski Box Set...Anchor Bay produced this exclusively packaged...6 DVDs in thin plastic cases in a paper slipcover w/ short booklet...and specially priced...$49.99 at Bestbuy...box set. It includes "Aguirre ..The Wrath of God", "Nosferatu...Phantom Der Nacht", "Woyzeck", "Fitzcarraldo", "Cobra Verde", and "My Best Friend"...which is a documentary of the partnership and Kinski's Madness/Genius. It was just too good to pass up ! I can't wait to wade through this special box set! For $50, where can you get such a great selection of foreign films, from an intriguing work partnership ?"A Cry In The Dark". This Fred Schepisi film is MORE than just about "The Dingo's Ate My Baby"! Meryl Streep provides a thoroughly captivating, and entralling acting performance. It's hard not to watch, and clocking in at 2 hours, it goes by toooo fast, to enjoy. Sam Neill as her husband is equally excellent here, providing the real angle to the "story". His stares, make you wonder just what he's thinking...wondering if he believes his wife's story. Amazing film!
"Drop Dead Gorgeous". Kirsty Alley (yes, Kirsty Alley is good in this) and Ellen Barkin, give a genuinely seasoned comic performance, just being "real", in this very light piece of fluff, here. Of course, Kirsten Dunst is really the star. The psuedo-documentary film format really is what makes the film a standout. Devo's Mark Mothersbaugh provides the film's music score with a great selection of "Hip Here and Now" songs.
"1776...restored Director's Cut". Suprisingly entertaining, considering the dry subject and 166minute length. The acting and story are superb...LOVE that William Daniels. Something to be very proud of and to feel good about too!!!
