"High Fidelity"

65.145.21.63

Of all of the "new" stars, outside of the Wilson Brothers...Owen and Luke...the only other Talent that I've appreciated is John Cusak.

In my pile to view, is "Say Anything" and "Better Off Dead"...but I caught "High Fidelity" on ENCORE the other day, and was totally captivated by his performance. It's competent and thoughtful, especially communicating the state of Record Geekdom, while not succumbing to being silly and forced. It's hard to do!

Though heavy handed on use of "breaking" the Fourth Wall, Cusak makes it work effectively, and gives an honest portrayal of Man at the Hands of Woman, that I've seen in a long time.

Jack Black also gives, what is his only genuine acting role, so far, and if he doesn't make it as an actor, he can always fall back on being a great white Soul Singer!

Kudos go to Tim Robbins too! Springsteen's cameo is priceless, but I'm sure glad he gave up any acting aspirations !!!

Anyone else like this film ?
