We watched the 20th Anniversary version (recut?) of E.T. on TV last night. I was surprised how well Spielberg's touch as a great story teller holds up, though his heavy-handed manipulation of emotion was much more apparent to me than before. I was even more impressed than before with the deft use of one J. William's best scores. Still ended up teary-eyed at the end...oh well.
