"Dirty Pretty Things" & "Northfork."

DPT: Audrey Tatou gives an oddly subdued performance in what is an entertaining effort. The male lead, however, is strong.
More a "squirmer" than a suspense film, it yet manages to convey the helplessness of the immigrant in a modern city (London). It moves inexorably to a disturbing ending, though with little finesse. Worth seeing.
"Northfork." Obtuse doesn't equal intelligent, or "cool." And for God's sake, will someone please stop these damn studios from using grey/black/blue palettes, already?! Tim Burton exhausted it ten years ago, yet some obviously still consider it avant-garde.
If one is intent on producing a film with no plot, one had better have strong character development. You don't get it in this pretentious, Lynch-wannabe. Is is sad to see what has become of the formerly formidable James Woods.
This film is the ultimate Polish joke.
