Tremendous kudos to Claire Denis, who gave us Beau Travail - the unforgettable film. One can rest assured that the Friday Night shall remain just as unforgettable, as it is, simply put, one of the most interesting films that I have seen in the last year... a pretty tall statement, I know.
How can one become rivered to a film where all action could be compressed in three minutes of your average American movie? The answer is the sheer beauty and suspence - the suspense of feelings, not action.
The film is simply mesmerizing, and hypnotic in the extreme, and you feel that you could spend the rest of the night watching those slow moving cars and the city lights, and you don't feel cheated one bit.
One of the best "plotless" films to ever grace the screen.
Taking off my monocle now... Citizen Kane is awaiting.
But darn... I simply can't get that Night out of my head...
