Well after three false starts, I manage this time to look trought it in his entity.
I remember seen it long time ago and was mildly decieved and was wondering readind in an interview from Simenon ( my favorite writer at the time ) call it the " best film " of the world...
Simenon knew a lot about films being even a one time Cannes festival director.
Fellini was not love by the French and even less so by the French intellectuals ( to this days ).
Between the two men a kind of relationship evolved in an exchage of letters trough the years.
Fellini´s last words was about Simenon.
Good but how is this film now in my feeling? I would declare it instantly the " best " touristic guide of a town in the world, a kadeiloscope of fabulous pictures, a love affair from a kid to his town, and to his time, far away from our wicked modern time.
It was when people had still time to communicate and eat together.
A time lost in memories.
To fully appreciate him you have to be, of course, from the south and Catholic.
But the message is universal, as the feelings are mutual from kid to kid...
And Victor is wrong the old goats that are the others.
We are getting younger by the passing days.
And boys, that is all the difference.
In one word, catch this one, it is magic. Magic as the vanishing Roman frescos in the underground of " Mama Roma " and the seven Romulus who actually were only three. If you count the " Lupa ".....
It´s magic.
