I haven't posted on this forum for a while because of the incredible junk I've gotten from the video store. But these are two good movies."The Missing" is a good western film. Really enjoy the scenery, the grand scope of westerns. Tommy Lee Jones plays a similar character to the one he did in "The Hunted". The movie gets you thinking about the character of the different white folks and indian folks in the film, and the two cultures. Tommy Lee Jones plays a father who has stepped away from the white culture to the indian culture. Alot of subtley of emotion is communicated in the film. And it is a good action film to boot.
Best film I've seen about whites-indians since the memorable "Black Robe" film.
Veronica Guerin is another good film. It is about a journalist in Ireland who boldly writes about the drug dealers who are affecting the people there. The film evokes more sentiment that the other film. It's more of a film to induce sentiment in the viewer. But it's also what a good film is about: teaching a moral.
The latter film I was in the middle of it when it was time to return it to the video store. In most situations, I would just end the movie but I felt compelled to hold on to this one to see what happens. I realized then that I really was liking this film. So I went to the store to pay the extra 2 bucks to keep it another day, and then I decided to make an offer to buy the film. I did buy it for anyone else that I know that might want to see it. Then I went home to watch the rest of the film, and I was glad I purchased it. The ending was at least as strong as the rest of the film.
