What a nice WWII laff riot. Imagine a Russian, a Finn, and a young, nubile Lap woman hanging together in reindeer land to avoid the war.
This film is both humorous and touching as the three "survivors" constantly misunderstand each other's language and intentions--nearly leading to the death of one. They grow to accept and understand each other and finally the ex-soldiers depart to find their way home leaving behind an unexpected gift.
I particularly liked the Lap ritual of summoning the dying back from the road of death. It seemed to have a touch of "Seventh Seal" about it.
This is a must see if you have an interest in "wartime" films.
