The director of both versions of "Cinema Paradiso" made this lesser effort about an infant found in the hold of a passenger ship who is christened "1900" from the year in which he is found. He gorws up
on the same ship tended lovingly by the crew, and never leaves. He becomes a virtuoso pianist, one challenged to an instrumental duel by non other than the legendary Jelly Roll Morton (my favorite part, being a Morton freak). Light but very enjoyable.
