didn't appreciate it before, note how compelling the intertwined stories are (first of all, it's fun to try and put the time puzzle together!).
Next, the quality of the performances: not just Travolta, but Roth and Thurman---and yes, Bruce---is excellent (even the college kid with the hamburger).
Outside of the directorial genius, two qualites jump out: the brilliant dialogue (the "whoppers in Amsterdam; footrub technique; post-fight taxicab dialogue); the accelerating action, most often unexpected (the scenes in the pawn shop...).
Tarantino raised the bar for gangster/action films---and elevated his to art.
