John Travolta, Gabriel Macht, Scarlett Johansson, and the city of New Orleans star in this tale of a young girl who comes to live with two aging alcoholics, one a failed English professor and the other a failed writer, once a student of the professor's. Scarlett plays the girl, who makes the three into a family and causes changes in the behavior of the two men. The three inhabit the characters and the dialog is well written, natural and believable. A quiet, non forced film which is very well directed.
