This Depression era Frank Capra film is a cinderella story of a band of street low lifes gathering to bail out one of their fellows. It seems that Apple Annie, an poor alcoholic old lady, has been writing to her daughter in Europe and pretending to be in "high society". When the daughter writes and announces she is marrying the son of a Spanish count the street people prevail upon the local mob boss to do a makeover on Annie and pass her off as a real society babe to the daughter, her intended, and most importantly the count himself.
Typical fluff from Capra, not one of his best.
