Yes, a hackneyed plot and the love stuff has been done before...but this time it is very well done, indeed.
Topher does an excellent job and Scarlett is...well, Scarlett is Scarlett---and that's about as good as actresses get these days.
Randy Quaid doesn't embarrass himself and makes a convincing middle-aged guy with lots of rough spots.
