p.s.

A film that fell under the radar or the local cineplexes. Laura Linney plays an admissions officer at Columbia University. Topher Grace plays a propsective art student. Gabriel Byrne plays Linney's ex husband. Marcia Gay Harden plays Linney's best friend from high school. Paul Rudd plays Linney's brother.

Grace plays a character named F. Scott Feinstadt, which is the same name of Linney's high school sweetheart who was killed in a car accident. When she sees his application, she is intrigued, so she schedules an interview. When he arrives, he bears a strong resemblance both in appearance and manner to her former high school chum. They begin a relationship. She because this an opportunity to re-live old experiences. He, because it is an opportunity to score with an attractive older women.

Marcia Gay Harden has a small role as her friend, who confirms that Grace is the high school sweetheart reincarnated. Problem is, Harden's character "stole" the sweetheart from Linney, and now it is though they are back in high school with boy competition.

Byrne has a small role as Linney's ex-husband. His role does not have much consequence in the film, but is there, I think, to contribute some history to Linney. As does her brother, played by Rudd.

This is really Linney and Grace's film. Nothing earth shattering. A pleasant film with good performances. I suspect that Grace will be showing up in more and more films. He is very likeable. I liked his performance in Tad Hamilton. Linney and Grace have good screen chemistry, particularly in light of their age differences.

Recommended.
