This is definitely not your typical Hollywood courtroom movie but a (slightly changed) story based on a best selling non fiction book about a law suit regarding industrial pollution and whether a dozen children who died of leukemia did so because of that pollution. John Travolta and Robert Duvall play opposing attornies. Duvall is a master of strategy but Travolta is swayed by emotion which hinders his ability to think clearly. Travolta's firm has spent $1.4 miilion of their own money preparing and trying the case and every so often the firm's accountant William H. Macy appears to announce more finacial doom. To its credit, the film does not end with a climactic cortroom battle. As a study in real life legal maneuvering
it succeeds on its own terms.
