Spotlight On Robert Young.

68.1.145.72

Robert Young, best known for his TV roles as Jim Anderson in Father
Knows Best and Marcy Welby, M.D., appeared in 100 movies from 1931
to 1952. Although handsome, he never got the girls because of his
blandness, i.e., near-zero sex appeal. One of his better roles was
as Langdon Towne, in Northwest Passage(1940),with Spencer Tracy and
Walter Brennan. His film career began in 1928 with an uncredited
appearance in The Campus Vamp. His TV career ended in 1988.
Robert battled with alcoholism and depression for many years, and
in 1991, attempted suicide unsuccessfully. He was married and had
four daughters. The final curtain fell on Robert in 1998 when he
died of respiratory failure at the age of 91. ~AH
