Walk the Line and old fashioned theater experience

So yesterday a new theater complex opened near me. The usual standard multiplex with stadium seating, distributed concessions, etc. Free food and 50 cent popcorn.

But most striking to me was the movie experience. There was one (1) preview. Then the movie began. I've become so used to the standard 10 minutes of commercials and 10 minutes of previews. Now I don't really mind it. But this was nice. Will it last past the first weekend? Doubt it.

As far as Walk the Line, it reminded me why I generally avoid biopics. Joaquin Phoenix was good, Reese Witherspoon was good, much of the concert stuff was great (Folsom prison the highlight for me), but the fictionalized and dramatized journey through the life of Johnny Cash just seemed like standard biopic stuff. Capote is worlds better.
