New World.....I'll probably be stoned by the group, but I can't understand the rave reviews and 5 star rating on this one. It just never drew me in, and the "close to reality" stuff was almost on the point of sickening ( the one soldier spitting drool as he talked, all the filth etc.) Battle scenes were pretty weak also.
Munich.....easily met my base criteria ( "a damn good movie"). Although long, it was not tedious. Casting was quite good. After the first "hit" it was beginning to remind me of "Day of the Jackal".....then when the French PaPa is introduced, I see that it is none other than the guy who played the french detective in Jackal. At least I'm pretty sure it was him.....anyone can confirm? One of my favorite characters in the show was Hans.....maybe the most solid member of the group.
The only movie downer for me was what happened to the bar woman...I had other methods in mind ( hope my wife doesn't see this post). The reality downer of the movie is the realization that things have not really changed between the Israelies and the Palestinians since 1972.
