A delightfully absorbing Korean film (already reviewed here) that follows the cyclic evolution of a monk & his disciple through the seasons, likening the seasons to the various stages that they go through .
It is deceptively simple, beautifully crafted and, in the end, quite dense.
Very enjoyable...it actually came with another film, Blue Gate Crossing, a Taiwanese film by Chin-Yen Lee, a study of adolescent coming of age which is tastefully handled and the young actors are superb.
Image-wise, horizontal and every shot counts....recommended.
