I have to say that I enjoyed this film very much. Phoenix and Witherspoon both did very well in their respective roles. I think that, lately, I have had a tendency to over-analyze films as I watch them. That being said, nothing stands out as "wrong" in this movie, which says a lot for it.
My only complaint - which is not really a complaint, because this is completely subjective, and the movie was just fine as it stands - is that they didn't involve much of Cash's life after he married Carter. I'm not sure what it is, but I feel very mournful when I think about Cash; I would have liked to have seen more about his final years. There is something completely haunting about the words and images in the video "Hurt"... something captivating to which I am drawn. It makes me so sad, but I want to watch it over and over. I wanted to see more of "this" Cash on film...
Cheers,
Chris
