"Rebecca" (1997 BBC TV Version)

Diana Rigg as Mrs. Danvers simply chews up thye scenary in this adaptation of the celebrated and best selling novel by Dapne du Maurier. Young Emilia Fox is perfect as the young second Mrs. De Winter and she has got to have one of the most winning smiles around. Max is played by the perfectly cast Charles Dance. The rest of the cast is equally well chosen and directed. This version is (understandaby) slightly more erotic than the 1940 Hitchcock film. Faye Duanaway is a hoot as the alcoholic social climber Mres. Van Hopper. The show won an Emmy and is definitely worth catching. There is a wonderful original score. Recommended.
