I had high hopes for this Russian import and it started pretty well. High production quality, good special effects and an interesting premise (as I understood it) that good and evil were so perfectly matched they had to agree to abide by certain rules and share responsibility for night and day time- hence the title "Night Watch" - there was also a day watch. There was an interesting team of Night Watch personnel who traveled around in a jet propelled utility truck, and I liked the idea of different colored flashlights to spot vampires.
Soon however, there seemed to be much lost in the translation. Why was the "good guy" drinking blood? To help him get atuned tot eh vampires? Why did he use a mirror to "see" the vampires? I thought vampires could never be reflected in mirrors? Then there was the cursed girl with the "vortex" ????
About three quarters in I was so confused I could no longer follow the story.
