Private Investigator Humphrey Bogart is hired by a rich dying paraplegic to look after his younger daughter (Martha Vickers, who out sexes older sister Lasuren Bacall). Along the way he gets involved with the other sister, employees of the family, and assorted low lifes as well as blackmail and murder. William Faulner was one of the writers who adapted the Raymond Chandler novel and I have always found the film overlong and talky, despite periodic action scenes. Max Steiner did the music. A must if you are into film noir.
