Moby Dick

One of those films I had seen scenes from, especially that of the pulpit with Orson Welles, but never watched in its entirety.

I was looking for something for the family to watch on Friday and finding nothing that really attracted me bought this and 'Field of Dreams'.

Moby Dick is a powerful piece of drama, one man's hatred against a force of nature. Directed and co-written by John Huston starring Gregory Peck & Richard Basehart with the secondary & bit parts filled with well known UK character actors.

I have to confess that I had not realised the themes and text that had been lifted straight from Melville into Star Trek II - The Wrath of Khan. I would even swear that James Horner lifted the start of the main theme for that film from Moby Dick.

A great film? A great story? I have never read the book, but this has encouraged me to get it, which is probably endorsement enough.
