Donald Sutherland plays a German spy in WW II England. He discovers that the massive buildup of equipment in a part of Englend is a ruse designed to make the Gremans think that the upcoming invasion wil not be in Normandy but further north. Hitler orders him to deliver his photographic proof to the Leader himself. Sutherland steals a small boat in a Scottish harbor to rendezvous with a submarine but runs inrio a storm and is shipwrecked on a tiny island off the coast. There are four people on the island:an unhappy married couple (Kate Nelligan and a crippled Christopher Casenove), their young son, and their aged shepard. Sutherland seduces Nelligan and dispatches the other two men and then tries to reach the submarine, the war hanging in the balance. Meanwhile British authorities are deperately try to locate Sutherland. Atthe end there is an unfortunate use of a helicpoter, as jarring here as the one used in
:Where Eagles Dare".
