"Cinema Paradiso"

On the CD "Under the Missouri Sky" by Charlie Haden and Pat Metheny there are glorious versions of both the Love Theme and Main Title
from this gem of a film with music by Morricone. I was playing these on my jazz show "Jazz with Rico" yetserday and was thus inspired to watch the film yet again last night. As most of you know the current DVD package contains both the original film and the newer, longer version which I myself prefer (the main difference is that the hero does meet his love when they are adults and they are able to consumate the relationship). For some reason the original in this box has not been restored with the same loving care that the longer version has. Anyway, whichever is your preference this coming of age lament for the traditional movie theater (and movies)is a classic that bears up after many viewings.
