Half Nelson. Saw it yesterday, and I'm still wiped out.

(Of course there's also the small matter of 9/11...)

We all know that the Ryan Gosling's Dan Dunne is inter alia a crackhead, but as he explains to his 13-year-old pupil, "A man is not defined by one thing only." Yet, later, when she discovers him... O God, it's horrible. And horribly humiliating. Yet, they survive.

Perhaps this impression will fade, but right now I'd have to say, Ryan Gosling is the finest actor I've ever seen on film. And I just recently saw Raging Bull!

The review pointed below says it best for me.

Meanwhile, two notes: I still do not like digital video for movies, and the digital music over the credit roll -- so shrill and edgy -- drove me out of my seat. At the back of the theatre I turned around for one last glance and saw the audio post-pro credit: a place called Dig It.

I did not dig it.
