I was disappointed. There was no resolution to the plot line. The movie just seemed to end because 90 minutes were up. The imaginary kingdom just seemed to exist but for no apparent reason. The only thing I could figure out is that this is planned as a 3 movie set and we need to see the planned part 2 to resolve some of the plot elements.
The girl apparently dies in the creek but we never see a body or a casket, suggesting that she might have somehow passed over into Terabithia and is now ruling the kingdom as Queen, to be discovered there by the boy in the next installmemt whenever that might be. Sorta like the Search for Spock. But we are still uncertain as to whether Terabithia is real or a completely imaginary dream world. What is its purpose? It was totally odd and out of place that the boy didn't invite the girl along on the museum field trip, since they had supposedly become such good friends. And why would the girl try to go across the river if the boy wasn't there?
If there eventually is another installent, I'm not sure I will bother, as there is not enough of a plot for me to care about these characters. Too much is left hanging to make the story interesting. The critics liked this one, but I disagree totally.
