It's an actors' movie largely. Hannibal Hopkins reprises his most famous role, Anthony Lector, and Ryan Gosling, while excellent, nevertheless does not rise to the virtuosity of Half Nelson. Still...
Almost immediately I figured out the murder weapon problem, but couldn't scope how the solution had eluded the investigators -- until an additional wrinkle was introduced towards the end. I must admit though, it had been adequately foreshadowed.
Not so easy to swallow however, were numerous what I call time-line distortions. Granted, in a legal thriller the court stuff must undergo huge time compression, but many other elements failed to track. I hate that, don't you?
Best line: "I killed two people with one bullet."
