film about a young man (Farley Granger) who is broken out of prison by two career bank robbers and who seems fated to follow their self-destructive path before he falls for "Keechie," amazingly brought to life by the almost ethereal 24-year old beauty, Cathy O'Donnell (who tragically would die at age 46).
Though the film is about crime, its origins and its sometimes inevitability, it really is one of the most poignant, moving, and passionate depictions of young love ever filmed.
Truly, it is "Romeo and Juliet," with guns.
