Much of a muchness as far as video quality. Pioneer outputs 96/48 though(which I don't believe the Toshiba does).Most important as far as I'm concerned though is that the Pioneer plays BOTH CD-R and CD-RW recorded CDs. The Toshiba will only play (some) CD-RW recordings. As I make a lot of "party" CDs and have transcripted many of my LP collection to CD-R, this was paramount.
